September on Amelia Island: Dining Month, the dance festival and museum talks

The last full week of August, and town is already turning toward fall. September fills up fast here. Most of what is coming is within a few minutes of the store.

September

Amelia Island Dining Month — all month, September 1 through 30. Twenty-three restaurants around the island put out special prix-fixe menus for the month. Part of the proceeds go to the Interfaith Dinner Network and America's Youth, both of which work on food insecurity here in Nassau County.

Brown Bag Lunch — Wednesday, September 2 and Wednesday, September 9. Noon to one at the Amelia Island Museum of History, Baker Hall, 233 South 3rd Street. Chip Kirkpatrick speaks on the 2nd and Dr. Roger Smith on the 9th. Bring your lunch.

Sounds on Centre — Friday, September 4. First Friday of the month in historic downtown Fernandina Beach. The series runs first Fridays, April through October.

Community Appreciation Day — Monday, September 7. At the history museum. A good one to know about if you have lived here for years and still never walked through it.

Amelia Island Dance Festival — Thursday through Sunday, September 10 to 13. Workshops and performances at venues around the island.

3rd on 3rd — Friday, September 18. Six to seven at the museum, with Dr. Steve Knoll.

Sunset Concert Series — Sunday, September 27. The September date in the series.

October

Sounds on Centre — Friday, October 2. The last one of the year, since the series wraps up in October.

Island Hop Craft Beer and Spirits Fest — Saturday, October 3. The day after, so you can make a weekend of it.

If you have people coming

September brings visitors. Dining Month runs all four weekends, and the dance festival pulls families in from out of town. If you are hosting someone and want to send them home with something that is actually from here, we keep the A.I.F.B collection in the store. We designed the A.I.F.B monogram ourselves, for Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach, and we license it ourselves, so it is not sold anywhere but here. Tees and hats.

If a group is going to one of these together, a team, a reunion, a set of friends doing the dance festival weekend, we do custom shirt orders and we do the embroidery and monogramming in house.
